Self Defense for Pre-Teens and Teens

Women and teens have to be more aware than ever. Did you know that, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, 1 out of every 4 women will be attacked or raped in her lifetime? Or that 90% of women assaulted knew their assailant? How about that the Women’s Self Defense Institute analyzed 3,000 assaults and found that 50% of the attackers fled from a woman who resisted?

What We Teach in This Basic Self Defense Class

In this class students will cover situational awareness, attitude, de-escalation, verbal and physical self defense tactics.

  • Verbal defense consists of dealing with mean girls and bully prevention
  • Physical defense consists of learning where to strike and how to strike by the use of pads and kick bags.
  • What assailants look for in their victims – date, acquaintance, and stranger assaults.

RECOMMENDATION:

Continue with next level/college prep self defense instruction. Next level instruction is powered by the Jane Jitsu Women’s Defense movement. The curriculum of this course will give individuals a comprehensive approach to remaining safe. The instruction teaches defensive measures such as awareness training to defend against attacks, on-the-ground defense, escapes, abductions, sexual assault, and rape. Students will learn to understand the actions necessary to escape from multiple positions of vulnerability, grabs, and chokes. Students are taught to physically use their own unique strengths against an assailant’s weakest targets and fight out of those assault scenarios. In addition, this course teaches safety and security best practices to avoid or mitigate the chances of being attacked by understanding indicators of threatening and predatory persons.
